Bugatti Unveils FKP Hommage: A 1578 BHP Tribute to the Veyron

9

Bugatti has revealed the FKP Hommage, a singular hyper-GT designed as the definitive modern interpretation of the Veyron. This one-off vehicle honors Ferdinand Karl Piëch, the former Volkswagen Group chairman whose vision brought the original Veyron to life.

A Nod to Automotive History

The FKP Hommage isn’t merely a stylistic exercise; it’s a direct evolution of the Chiron, powered by the same formidable quad-turbo W16 engine. However, it’s been meticulously upgraded with the 1578 bhp output previously seen in the Chiron Super Sport. Enhanced cooling systems, larger intercoolers, and a strengthened gearbox ensure that this power is managed effectively.

The car’s design draws heavily from the groundbreaking 2005 Veyron 16.4 – the model that set records and cemented Bugatti’s position at the forefront of hypercar engineering. But instead of simply recreating the past, Bugatti’s design chief, Frank Heyl, emphasizes that every surface has been refined for a more streamlined look.

The Design Philosophy

Heyl explains that the goal was to create something “period correct,” meaning authentic in its homage to the original Veyron while remaining distinctly modern. This is evident in the three-dimensional, upright horseshoe grille and the new L-shaped LED headlights, which give the car a more aggressive stance.

The FKP Hommage is the second bespoke commission from Bugatti’s Solitaire division, a clear indication of the brand’s commitment to ultra-exclusive, individualized vehicles. This division allows Bugatti to cater to clients seeking truly unique automotive experiences.

A Legacy Continues

The FKP Hommage represents more than just a tribute. It symbolizes Bugatti’s ability to blend historical significance with cutting-edge engineering. This vehicle isn’t about revisiting the past; it’s about reinterpreting it for the future, ensuring the Veyron’s legacy lives on in a new era of hypercar performance.
