2027 Kia Telluride: Price Rises Above $40,000 with New Generation

The 2027 Kia Telluride will now start at $40,735, marking the first time the popular three-row SUV’s base price has exceeded the $40,000 threshold. The price increase reflects the model’s entry into its second generation, a significant update since its 2020 debut.

New Generation, Higher Cost

The shift in pricing isn’t unexpected. Kia revamped the Telluride for 2027 after a six-year winning streak in Car and Driver’s 10Best awards, which means upgrades to features and performance come at a premium. The base LX trim, available only with front-wheel drive, leads the charge at $40,735. Stepping up to the S trim costs $43,635, while the EX model begins at $45,335.

All-wheel drive (AWD) adds an additional $2,000 to either the S or EX trims. For buyers seeking more premium features, the SX trim starts at $50,335, with higher-spec SX-Prestige X-Pro variants reaching up to $58,335.

X-Pro and X-Line Trim Highlights

The X-Pro trims focus on enhanced capability, boasting an improved suspension with increased travel, greater ground clearance, dedicated drive modes, and an electronic limited-slip differential. The $1,500 X-Line package leans towards aesthetics rather than off-road prowess, providing styling upgrades without the same performance benefits.

Hybrid Pricing Expected Later This Spring

Pricing for the Telluride Hybrid remains unreleased but is projected to be around $4,700 more than the standard combustion model, following the pricing pattern seen in its sister vehicle, the Hyundai Palisade. The hybrid option is expected to launch later this spring.

The 2027 Kia Telluride’s higher starting price reflects both the vehicle’s substantial updates and broader market trends pushing SUV costs upwards. Buyers should weigh their needs carefully when selecting between trims, considering whether the X-Pro’s added capability or the X-Line’s styling is more valuable.
