Nissan Bets on Value: N6 PHEV Launches in China Starting at $15,000

Nissan is entering a competitive Chinese market with the launch of its first plug-in hybrid sedan under the Dongfeng Nissan banner. The N6, built on the same platform as the electric N7, goes on pre-sale November 13th with prices starting at around $15,000 USD, aiming for affordability in a rapidly growing sector.

The N6 targets value-conscious buyers seeking practical plug-in hybrid technology. Though smaller than its purely electric sibling, it still boasts ample interior space typical of mid-size sedans, measuring 4,831 mm long, 1,885 mm wide, and 1,491 mm tall with a 2,815 mm wheelbase.

Borrowing styling cues from the N7, the N6 features Nissan’s modern design language: a closed-off front grille, full-width LED headlights, flush door handles, and a sleek fastback profile. A charging port discreetly sits on the rear quarter panel, highlighting its hybrid nature without being ostentatious.

Under the hood, a familiar 1.5-liter gasoline engine partners with an electric motor, generating a combined output of approximately 211 hp. A key selling point is the 21.1 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery promising a claimed 180 km (approximately 112 miles) range on electricity alone under China’s CLTC testing cycle.

This positioning makes the N6 competitive in a Chinese market increasingly flooded with domestic plug-in hybrid and full electric offerings within similar size classes. While many rivals focus on cutting-edge features or performance, Nissan’s strategy appears centered on delivering compelling value and established reliability to an expansive customer base.

Formal sales are slated for December 8th, 2025, with deliveries quickly following. This pre-sale period gives potential buyers a chance to secure their place in line for one of the first N6 PHEVs hitting Chinese roads. The success will hinge on Nissan’s ability to balance affordability with the growing demand for electric driving range and advanced technology features among Chinese consumers.
