Renault Scenic E-Tech: French EV Aims for 600km Range Under $60,000

The 2026 Renault Scenic E-Tech is hitting Australian roads after a 15-year absence. This time around, the nameplate ditches its people mover roots and embraces a crossover SUV design. The car arrives in three variants with orders now open, promising deliveries by late December or early January.

Renault Australia has set a starting price of $55,990 before on-road costs for the entry-level Scenic E-Tech. This makes it directly competitive with other popular electric SUVs like the Tesla Model Y and BYD Sealion 7. For buyers seeking maximum range, the Long Range model equipped with an 87kWh battery will set you back $59,990 plus on-road costs, offering an impressive 625km of driving distance on a single charge.

Key Features and Technology

The Scenic E-Tech stands out with its inclusion of Renault’s new MyRenault app-connected services, integrated into a next-generation infotainment system powered by Google Built-in. This allows drivers to control various car functions remotely, access real-time traffic updates, and even schedule charging sessions from their smartphones.

Inside, the cabin boasts a contemporary look with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a large 12-inch vertical touchscreen dominating the center console. Standard features across the range include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless smartphone charger, and an immersive Arkamys Classic Sound System.

Safety and Warranty

While the Scenic E-Tech hasn’t yet received an ANCAP safety rating, it carries a five-star Euro NCAP rating from 2022, providing some indication of its safety credentials. A comprehensive suite of standard driver assistance systems is included: adaptive cruise control with stop/go functionality, blind-spot assist, lane centring assist, parking sensors front and rear, and a 360-degree camera system for better visibility in tight spots.

Renault offers a five-year, 100,000km new vehicle warranty and an impressive eight-year, 160,000km battery warranty mirroring the coverage provided on its smaller Megane E-Tech sibling. Additionally, Renault’s ‘Assured Price Servicing’ program ensures predictable maintenance costs for up to five years.

Variants and Options

The Scenic E-Tech comes in three trims: Techno, Iconic, and Esprit Alpine. The higher-end Esprit Alpine adds features like face ID recognition for personalized seat and mirror settings, a unique infrared windscreen, premium Harman Kardon sound system, and distinctive styling cues inspired by Renault’s performance arm.

While metallic paint is available as an extra cost option, buyers looking for the ultimate statement can opt for a two-tone or even matte grey finish – specifically available on the Esprit Alpine.

The Scenic E-Tech marks a notable return for Renault in Australia with its competitive pricing, impressive range, and tech-forward features. It remains to be seen how it will fare against established players in the growing EV market.
