Wuling Hongguang Mini EV (2026) Launched: Longer Range, Faster Charging, and Refreshed Design

Wuling has unveiled its updated Hongguang Mini EV for the 2026 model year, offering a significant range boost to 301 km (CLTC standard) and faster DC charging capabilities. Priced between $6,200 and $7,600 USD, the new Mini EV targets cost-conscious consumers in China with a blend of practicality and affordability. The update includes exterior and interior refinements, and improved in-car technology.

Exterior Refresh and Dimensions

The 2026 Mini EV features a redesigned exterior, dubbed “sweet square” by the manufacturer, blending a boxy shape with rounded elements. This includes circular LED headlights, new mirror designs, and updated decorative accents. The vehicle’s dimensions are 3,268 mm long, 1,520 mm wide, and 1,575 mm high, with a 2,190 mm wheelbase. The length and height have increased slightly compared to the previous model. The car also features an improved turning radius of 4.5 meters, making it ideal for urban environments.

Interior Enhancements and Tech Features

Inside, the Mini EV boasts a dual-tone brown and white interior scheme with a redesigned dashboard. The cabin now includes 20 storage compartments and rear seats that fold flat to increase trunk space to 838 liters. A 10.1-inch central touchscreen provides access to four drive modes: rest, camping, rain/snow, and pet mode. Connectivity includes remote control via a mobile app and planned support for Apple CarPlay, Huawei HiCar, and CarLink through over-the-air updates. The shift lever has been moved to the column to free up center console space.

Powertrain and Charging Performance

The 2026 Hongguang Mini EV is powered by a 30 kW electric motor, achieving 0–50 km/h acceleration in 4.56 seconds. Two CLTC range options are available: 205 km and 301 km. The vehicle uses a lithium iron phosphate battery with an energy consumption rate of 8.9 kWh/100 km. DC fast charging can replenish the battery from 30% to 80% in just 35 minutes. The car also includes battery heating for cold weather operation.

Safety and Chassis Details

The new model employs a ring-shaped cage body structure made with 60% high-strength steel, including 1500 MPa material in key areas. Safety features include dual front airbags and an electronic stability control system. The suspension consists of a front MacPherson independent system and a rear three-link non-independent setup, paired with disc brakes on both axles.

The Wuling Hongguang Mini EV remains a significant player in the ultra-affordable EV market, and this 2026 update further solidifies its position by addressing key consumer demands: longer range, faster charging, and improved usability. Its continued success hinges on maintaining competitive pricing and adapting to evolving market trends.
