Xiaomi has significantly upgraded its all-electric SU7 sedan, improving range, performance, and safety features to better compete with rivals like the Porsche Taycan and BMW i5. The updates apply across the SU7’s trim levels—Standard, Pro, and Max—though the vehicle remains unavailable in the UK for now, with European launch planned for next year.
Enhanced Range and Performance
The SU7’s range has been extended across all variants. The base Standard model now achieves up to 447 miles (CLTC), an increase of 13 miles. The mid-range Pro boasts an impressive 560-mile range thanks to a larger 96.3kWh battery, up from 515 miles previously. The high-performance Max retains a 518-mile range but benefits from increased power.
Power outputs have also been increased. The Standard now delivers 315bhp (up from 294bhp), accelerating from 0-62mph in 5.3 seconds. The Pro maintains similar performance, while the Max now produces 681bhp, achieving a 0-62mph time of just 3.0 seconds.
Improved Charging and Handling
Xiaomi has upgraded its electric platform to 900V architecture, enabling rapid charging: up to 316 miles of range can be added in just 15 minutes. Handling has been improved with standard dual-chamber air suspension across all models (previously exclusive to the Max trim), predictive damping, and Xiaomi’s “Dragon Chassis” featuring reinforced components and optimized suspension geometry.
Tech and Safety Upgrades
The SU7 retains its large 16.1-inch central touchscreen running Xiaomi’s HyperOS infotainment system, now including Apple CarPlay connectivity. Safety has been prioritized with upgraded brakes, additional airbags, and a triple-redundant door-unlocking mechanism designed to prevent occupants from being trapped in emergencies.
Integrated LiDAR sensor, previously limited to higher trims, is now standard across the range, complementing cameras and sensors for Xiaomi’s Pilot autonomous driving technology. This addition brings advanced driver-assistance capabilities to the base SU7 model.
The SU7 is priced competitively in China, starting at roughly £24,000 for the Standard, £27,000 for the Pro, and £33,000 for the Max. European pricing is expected to be higher but still aggressive.
These enhancements position the SU7 as a serious contender in the electric vehicle market, offering compelling performance, range, and technology at a competitive price point.
