Zeekr is preparing to launch the 8x, a large, six-seat hybrid SUV aimed at the Chinese market. Set to debut in late 2025, the vehicle will combine significant electric range with the benefits of a plug-in hybrid powertrain, targeting buyers who want long-distance capability without range anxiety.
Powertrain and Performance
The Zeekr 8x will be built on the SEA-S hybrid platform, utilizing a high-voltage 900V system for faster charging and increased efficiency. The engine combines a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with dual electric motors, delivering a combined output of 400 kW (544 hp) and 700 Nm of torque. This setup enables a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 4.9 seconds.
Battery options include a 70 kWh ternary-lithium pack (and a smaller 55 kWh variant) designed for fast charging. The vehicle is expected to exceed 400 km of pure electric range according to CLTC standards, with a total combined range exceeding 1,200 km. Fuel consumption is estimated at 5.1 L/100 km for the six-seat configuration. The 800-900 V architecture allows charging from 10% to 80% in around 15 minutes, and a 5-minute boost can add up to 200 km of range. The system also supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality for external power supply.
Interior and Comfort
The Zeekr 8x is positioned as a luxury vehicle, with a focus on passenger comfort. The six-seat layout (2+2+2) features premium full-grain Nappa leather seating, with extensive adjustments, heating, ventilation, and massage functions for the front seats. Second-row passengers will benefit from independent “aviation” seats, offering adjustable legrests, reclining up to 121°, and independent climate controls. The third-row knee room is expected to be class-leading, exceeding competitors at 652 mm. With all rear seats folded, cargo space expands to approximately 1,980 liters.
Technology and Safety
The interior will be dominated by a 14.6-inch floating central touchscreen with gesture and side-swipe controls, paired with an 8.8-inch digital instrument panel. The vehicle will be equipped with dual high-performance chips for infotainment and autonomous driving, along with LiDAR, cameras, radar, and ultrasonic sensors. This enables features such as highway and city Navigation-On-Autopilot (NOA) without map data, advanced obstacle avoidance (G-AES), and a comprehensive auto-parking system.
The Zeekr 8x is designed to compete in the high-end SUV segment, offering a compelling combination of performance, luxury, and range. The hybrid powertrain will appeal to buyers who prioritize long-distance travel without the constraints of pure electric vehicles.
